Tommy Chong: “Get America Stoned Again”

Los Angeles (CNN) Legendary pot head Tommy Chong brought “Get America Stoned Again” hats to CNN, talked about his new strain of Chong’s Choice bud and why he thinks weed will one day save the world. For now, though, he says marijuana laws are racist and he’s outraged by a U.S. government decision not to loosen restrictions. Chong also thinks Trump is a liar and rips his bong for Bernie. Here are selected excerpts from two epic appearances on “CNN Newsroom L.A.”

Cheech & Chong

“I really, sincerely believe that cannabis is going to save the world,” he said to John Vause and Isha Sesay.

“How so?” they challenged.

“In every which way. Medically it’s good for epilepsy, it’s good for MS, it’s good for Alzheimer’s, you name it. Cancer. I’m a cancer survivor and part of my treatment was marijuana.”

Free the Weed

Chong VoteChong is a card-carrying Bernie Sanders supporter. He admits that the vote is tied to The Bern’s support of burning one down. He’s not a big fan of the G-O-P. “Bush had me put in jail for selling bongs,” he says. In deed, Chong served nine months behind bars thanks to “Operation Pipe Dreams” and a federal crackdown on drug paraphernalia.

In an attempt to get Bernie Sanders elected, Chong put out a video comparing the Vermont Senator to the very best weed you can buy. But when pressed on a Clinton alternative, Chong said, “We need a mum in The White House, for sure. And Bernie’s a good mum, by the way. Bernie’s like a Jewish mum. And Hillary would be great because we need someone who cares about people. We don’t need a businessman who cares about his own personal wealth. The differences between Hillary and Bernie are nothing.”

Chong's ChoiceAs tensions continue to mount during this political season, Chong was asked if he knew of anything that might take the edge off. His new marijuana company, Chong’s Choice, quickly came to mind. “I’ve got a new strain for Donald Trump,” he said. “It’s called ‘The Donald.’ What happens is you take a toke and start lying.”

Tommy Chong was invited back to CNN after the DEA decided not to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule II substance — leaving pot in the same category as heroin, LSD and ecstasy. The big reason, according to Chong, cash money.

“You legalize marijuana — then, you don’t need the DEA,” he said. “They’re really just trying to hang onto their job. Marijuana is the number one cash crop in the world for years and years and years. Billions of dollars. That’s when it was illegal. Now once it becomes legal, we won’t need police to tell us that we can’t use this miraculous plant.”

Get America Stoned

While the Feds continue to criminalize marijuana, 25 states and D.C. allow its use for medical reasons or for recreational use.  A quick visit to Kratomystic for Kratom online will show you just how much we’ve progressed, indeed this movement is in full effect. The future is uncertain, that’s for sure but with these strong allies, we might just make it.

Chong has long said that DEA laws against pot are racist. He was asked to explain: “Before it was called marijuana, it was called hemp. The hemp farmers were mandated by the government to grow hemp. When (William Randolph) Hearst wanted to sell his tracts of land and trees — because marijuana makes the best paper — Hearst created this publicity campaign to demonize it. Refer madness came from that. What Hearst did, with the help of the government… they substituted marijuana for alcohol because alcohol prohibition ended — and marijuana was perfect for the government to continue its racist laws.”

Chong is hoping one stroke of the pen will help erode the history he detailed. “I hope President Obama will make an executive order and legalize it.”
